Preached by Benjamin Vrbicek
Scripture Reading
Romans 6:1-4
1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Sermon Discussion Questions
Have you been baptized? To use the labels Pastor Benjamin used in the sermon, would you say your story about baptism is more “tidy” or “squirrelly”? Why? Would you benefit from talking to a pastor about your baptism story to get clarity in areas you might feel confused?
We often assume that just because a doctrine doesn’t directly affect our salvation (as is the case with baptism), the doctrine is unimportant. But what are some reasons baptism is important?
What stood out to you today from the whole worship service, not just the baptism? How do other parts of the worship service act like “signs” that point us to the whole Christian message, especially the good news message of Jesus?
